Amelia Coffaro, RYT 500, C-IAYT, is dedicated to teaching Adaptive Yoga and Mindfulness as ways to manage, prevent and heal from disease or illness. After seeing two heart shaped tumors mirroring one another over her heart, and experiencing a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer at age 27, she was inspired to create an offering rooted in self compassion that met the unique needs of people with cancer and chronic illness.
Amelia has travelled nationally and internationally for her trainings, studying closely with her primary guides Jnani Chapman, RN, BSN, RYT 500, and Dr. Timothy McCall. She is a Program Coordinator for YCat Yoga Therapy, a member of the Yoga Service Council, a CreativeMornings Milwaukee team organizer, and a board member of CORE/El Centro where she focuses her energy on developing community partnerships that provide under served people with equal access to integrative health services. Amelia has also had the honor to offer the keynote at several health and wellness related events. In 2013, TIME named her personal photo series, walk through cancer as one of the top photojournalism projects on the web. Her work has also been published by NPR, Elle and Stand Up To Cancer among several others.
In 2019, she will begin serving as an advisor on a Harvard study exploring mind body therapy interventions with young adult cancer survivors.
